About
WaveWalk Fishing Kayaks
Improving and
Expanding Your Kayak Fishing Experience
Our initial
idea was to create a kayak that would offer sufficient stability for
anyone to stand up in it and fish, paddle and even surf in full
confidence.
During the research and development period for this kayak and even
before
we had a final prototype made, people would stop us on the river or at
the beach and tell us -"This boat looks like it would be great for
fishing!"...So we knew we had something special that
people are going to like, and we applied for a U.S. utility patent.
In March 2005
the United States Patent and Trademark Office granted us utility patent
number 6,871,608 for the invention we named "Twin hull personal watercraft", on which our
present W Fishing Kayak design is based.
This kayak turned out to be innovative and useful in more ways, mainly
by
offering the best comfort you can get from any kayak or canoe, and it
took us some time to realize that this fact was probably even more
important for most people than their ability to stand up in their kayak.
We found that although many people are
captivated by the appeal of kayak fishing and many try it - not that
many stick to it.
We enable more
people to take part in kayak
fishing, of which many who previously felt too uncomfortable
spending hours seated in an ordinary kayak and others who've realized
that a good fishing kayak should offer more mobility in order for them
to access spots they couldn't go to with other fishing kayaks.
And of course, we created the only kayak that enables both casting and
paddling while standing in full confidence even in saltwater and on
windy days.
Who needs to
fish from kayaks?
The short answer is "many people, and for many
reasons"...
Who needs a
new type of fishing kayak, and why?
The short answer is "all kayak fishermen, and
for many reasons"...
So, what do we believe in and what are we offering?-
WaveWalk wants to deliver the best paddling experience in
every dimension:
First of all, we
believe stability is the most important feature in a fishing kayak
since it's
the basis
for both comfort and performance.
The ancient root
of the word stability means standing, and we believe the fun, appeal
and
success of a sport has a lot to do with the way it makes us use our
legs,
simply because by nature we are bipedal.
People all
over
the world, including native North Americans have been paddling, poling
and
sculling in the standing position whenever possible.
Polynesians have been surfing standing for
centuries. Millions of snowboarders and
skiers prefer
to go on snow in the upright position rather than use sleds in a seated
position, and for every
recumbent bicycle there are
thousands of regular
bikes.
Why? -Because standing
is natural and essential to human powered motion, sports and
recreation, so sports
and activities practiced standing are more fun.
Standing is natural
and essential for fishing too, including for kayak fishing.
From
a different perspective the tremendous success and rapidly increasing
popularity of multi-hull sailboats and motorboats prove the
hydrodynamic advantages of the multi-hull concept.
We believe
that-
- People who fish
from kayaks should not have to
choose between speed and stability, and they should
get both.
- People who fish
from kayaks should be able to
go on water like they are used to go on land,
snow and ice, namely standing.
- Fishing kayaks
should be
adapted to people who fish from
kayaks and not vice versa, and
your
fishing kayak should be comfortable and easy to paddle.
- People who fish
from kayaks should be able to
choose between several paddling positions and not
be forced to stay in one position.
- A fishing kayak
should
offer its owner multiple uses, and deliver high
value through versatility.
And
that's
what we deliver.
