Troy S.
W Kayak Fly Fisherman
Texas

Troy is a Texan kayak fly fisherman and a 'Design & Do It Yourself' ace:
-“ I love to catch redfish and trout out of yaks. I'm 210 lb and I don't pack lightly. So far I have enjoyed my W kayak in flat water, and I've used it at night in the canals.  While using it in the surf I got a lot of stares and questions from passersby. Its main use in the surf was to haul baited hook a few hundred yards off shore for fellow bank fisherman - The W kayak is a fishing machine that performs flawlessly.”

About his outfitting projects:

-“I'm working on a sail rig. I'm planning to attach the sail mast to the front outrigger mount support rail so that I could pull the mast down to disengage the sail immediately. I haven't decided on sail type yet.”

He adds:
-“I'm planning to rig my W yak with a trolling motor too as I got it for fishing skinny water and not for the exercise.”

Troy's fully rigged (so far) W fishing kayak at the beach, Texas gulf coast.

Note the back rest for the seat is gone, and the RAM-119 is used to hold an umbrella - A useful setting when you're spending long hours fishing in the Texas sun.

Also note Troy's cockpit cover that can be rolled forward and doubles as a half-skirt ('apron') for extra protection against rain, spray etc.
