-"Anchor line or anchor chain?"
A line is lighter than a chain and therefore we recommend it.
We supply each anchor with a 35 ft long 1/4" thick Polypropylene rope, which is lighter than water and therefore it floats.
The rope comes either in yellow or in black - You choose the color that best fits your needs.

Tip:
Check the line's integrity from time to time before going fishing, and make sure the anchor is well secured to your W Kayak before you drop it in the water.

Anchoring Systems

You may want to achieve a higher level of control over your kayak's position. In order to do that you can use a trolley system in flat water or an anchor pulley in moving water:

Jeff fishes mostly in estuaries and lakes, and he can keep his W kayak in a precise location and position using his DIY anchor trolley.

Brandon C. created this instant release anchor system after he saw commercial fishermen use a similar, bigger one.
This system enables the kayak fisherman to quickly disengage from his anchor and chase a big fish, and then later return to the same spot.

-"What size anchor to choose - Big or Small?"

-If you're going to use your kayak for fishing in ponds or small and protected lakes the 1.5 lb anchor would suffice. However, if you're going to fish in moving water such as bigger lakes, rivers and in the ocean you'd better take the 3.5 lb anchor.

-"Where is the best place to drop the anchor?"

-There are several possibilities and eventually you'll find out for yourself through experimentation. Generally, we would advise you to drop the anchor between the hull tips. Whether you drop it in front of the cockpit or behind it depends only on whether you want to face the wind, current and waves or not.

-"Can I use more than one anchor?"

-Absolutely. However, in case you're exposing the broad side of your boat to lateral waves the result may be some discomfort and occasional splashes.
